This festival of philanthropy reminds us all that being compassionate and caring for others and helping those who are in need is something that restores the humanity in all of us. The festival celebrates generosity and also reminds us that It is our duty as responsible human beings to help each other and ensure that we support millions of people, who are vulnerable and deprived.
Daan Utsav this year gives the form of giving so much more meaning. As per UNESCO, 2020 report 27 Crore Children in schools in India are affected by the lockdown. Rural schools students were the worst affected and in many cases were completely disconnected from Education. Now after 18 month with schools opening up gradually across states these children will start coming back to school. However there are research reports that are suggesting that due to this long gap and consequential learning loss, and other issues such as students being engaged in other income generation activities etc. many students may drop out of school permanently. We need to act now to arrest this issue!
“Back to School’ – initiative by Ennoble – where we are transforming Rural and Remote Government Schools so as to make it comfortable, exciting and inviting for Rural Students.
Our call to you is to help us refurbish & give new life to schools, all proceeds raised will go straight to our campaign to transform a Panchayat Union Middle School in the interiors of Tamil Nadu, located behind a remote forest area. PUMS, Kondamangalam was established in 1932, in Kattankolathur block of Kancheepuram. The co-ed school consists of grades from 1 to 8 with a strength of 150 students. The school has a very strong community support, not to mention the teachers and headmistress go an extra mile for their students. During the first wave, the teachers pooled in their own hard earned money to provide all their students with provisions to help their families get by. PUMS, Kondamangalam has a distinctive charm and the community is almost like a big family.
The challenge begins when there are only 3 functional classrooms for the students of classes 4-6. Children from class 1-5 have only one common classroom as the other rooms were deemed unfit & unsafe for education. This aside, the school does not have basic infrastructure such as closed toilets for students & staff, benches, computer labs, a playground etc. The children also lack student essentials such as shoes and school bags. With schools speculated to reopen from November 1st in Tamil Nadu, PUMS, Kondamangalam is not ready to take in all their students. The headmistress is contemplating seating a few classes outside in the hot blistering sun.
This is where Ennoble comes in. We have designed the YeloGreen School Program with a 360-degree approach to transform government schools at scale. The program delivers on improved educational outcomes through Engaging Education and a conducive learning ecosystem. The total cost of this project is estimated at Indian Rupees 25 lakh.
Every drop in the ocean counts. No matter how small you think your contribution may be, we assure you that it’ll make a big difference to children’s lives. Their dreams of a better tomorrow are at stake & they need our help urgently.
